No matter how hard I try to keep my passwords in one place, it just doesn’t seem to work. I decided to create "Password Keepers." Now my passwords are safe in my keeper and I always know where to find them.

Password Keeper: "Spring Goddess" $38.

I made one for myself and a few extra ones for those of you who might be interested. Since it took a long time to do original passport journals, they are priced a bit higher than the regular journals I made with same images. The journals are actually art journals but the sky is the limit for other uses. I used various items for the original password journals including crackle glaze and embellishments and on the regular journals, I took image and used encaustic wax, yarn and other embellishments. They are standard size- 8 ½ high by 6 ½ wide with beautiful thick black leather like covers and large rings. The pages inside journals are white artists paper for sketching or writing.

I love using my “Givers of Light” light switch covers on all of my light switches. It’s fun to walk into a room, flip on the light and see one of the clay faces gazing back at me. I just finished the three that I was working on before the Christmas rush. Oceana, the Storyteller and the Crone. They are approximate 4” wide x 9” high. They fit directly over your present light switch. Just remove old one and use existing hardware. Be sure to allow for head room because they are about 3” higher than the standard cover. I just finished this Native American Goddess burning bowl and decided to name her “Mistflower”. For those of you new to my blog, I create Goddess Burning Bowls out of stoneware clay and a stained glass base. The story behind the burning bowl is this:

Unity Church has a special ceremony each New Year’s Eve. A large bowl is placed at the altar and each member of the church is asked to write down problems or vices they wish to annihilate from their lives.. It could be a wish to quit smoking or drinking. It might be a desire to loose weight or to quit any of a number of addictions. Each person places their list into the bowl and at midnight, the bowl is lit. Everyone watches as the fire burns away all the troubles.

Years ago, I decided to make small, individual burning bowls. I named them Goddesses or Crones. Mistflower is one of the smaller ones at 10”h, 4”w and 5” deep. I have priced her at $52. “Mistflower”

She stood by the great falls watching the water as it cascaded over the edge. The water was never the same..always new..always flowing. She thought of how much it reminded her of the human race..always new generations, never the same people..all moving toward something bigger than themselves.

She walked to the edge and saw her reflection and thought about how much we are all alike and how, as her people had taught her, we are all the great mirror..simply the reflection of one another.

Years ago, I took a correspondence course with Yehwehnode Two Wolves-Twyla Nitch, clan mother of the Seneca tribe in New York. She named her followers “The Keepers of the Stones” and even sent me my own special stone in a little leather pouch. I have kept it through the years and think of her often. She passed away a few years ago. I was glad that I sent her a story I had written about the Seneca’s and her in particular. titled ” Within the Within,” I sent it to Twyla for her approval. She read it and told me that she approved of all but one word. The last word in my story ended with the word “power.” Twyla explained to me that if I changed that name to “withinness,” more “power” would be invoked into my story because it was the “withiness” that takes us to our center and our truth.

Here is the story I wrote.

Within the Within

At a very young age, she had learned to speak the language of the stones and the language of the trees. Her people, the Seneca, Keepers of the Western Door of the symbolic Longhouse, had taught her.

They taught her of the foundation of truth which is called "within the within.'" She learned of the sanctity of the circle and how it symbolizes perfect truth and is considered the pathway of peace and harmony.

But of all the many truths that she was taught, he sould knew a truth that her mind was just beginning to comprehend..HER truth. For there is no collective truth. The truth of one soul is not the same as that of another. She knew that truth's purpos is growth...soul growth. She would be open to all truths but true to her own. She knew that by being true to herself, therein she would find her withiness.

Chain Detail

Within the Within is 3” w x 10 1/2 “ long with 81/2 “ chain measured from neck to top of necklace. This particular necklace, unlike some of the other ones I have created, would work well for a shorter gal. I’m very tall and tend to make them all geared toward my height.

I used turquoise and other embellishments and sculpted an original clay face as the focal point of the necklace. I hope whoever receives my necklace wears her with power and withiness.

I have a few face jars left from Christmas sales if anyone is interested. They are priced reasonably at $25. each. I hand sculpted each face, added all types of interesting finds from the year’s antique and flea market shopping. The apothecary jars are 3” in diameter and hold 10 oz. of whatever you choose to place into them. I think candles or creams would be sublime. You could even place food items into them since the jar has a tight rubber seal. I’m sure my reader’s will find all sorts of uses for them I have never even thought of.

I have created her necklace by using turquoise, metal feather and fetishes. Her face is an original, just like she is. It is stoneware clay and is the focal point of the necklace. The width of base is 3” and length, including jangles is 6.” The turquoise chain itself is long-about 12” from the neck but because of the unique latch, it can be adjusted to be worn much shorter.

Magical Goddess

She was noticed by many at the soiree. She was the one who waltzed in the door like she owned the grand manor house with the yacht docked in the ocean just behind and the Ferrari in the drive. Her artful movements throughout the evening were mirrored by the ethereal glitzy necklace she wore. All eyes were drawn to it. For most, it was music for the soul, partly because the jewels seemed to dance and take on a life of their own, and partly because of the regal aspect it leant to the wearer.

The concept of the Triple Goddess, Maiden, Mother and Crone, can be found in the mythology of all lands. Each stage of her life symbolizes a separate stage in the female life cycle. The number three is evoked with powerful religious and cultural symbolism.

I like to think that when I create my Crone Ceremonial Necklaces, I embody each one of them with all three aspects of the triple Goddess. It’s interesting that when you look at some women, you can see just that. The innocent maiden, waiting for life to happen, the powerfully strong mother and a glimpse at the wisdom the crone brings to her life. In the summer, I often reflect on quotes from Ray Bradbury’s book, “Dandelion Wine.” Bradbury writes, “Medicines of another time, the balm of sun and idle afternoons, the faintly heard sounds of ice wagons passing on brick avenues, the rush of silver skyrockets, all these in a glass.” It seems like a timeless quote to me because it echoes my past and yet places me squarely in the present summertime. In this post, I will attempt to have you enter my world this summer at Woodloft.

Since I acquired my Kindle, I read more books in a week than I used to in months. The reason: I am able to enlarge the font and have no need for reader glasses. Of the many I have read recently, one that I’d like to recommend for summer reading is 'The book of Lost Fragrances,'by M.J.Rose. I like it when authors names suit their titles~LOL. The book is very thought provoking and I’ve even started a new art series after reading it.’ Maybe you can guess what it is I’ll be creating.

Speaking of creating, I’m busy with my ‘face’ soaps for the market. They are major good sellers for me and I’m having a hard time keeping up with the demand!

My Face Soaps in Lavender and Rose Geranium

Even though it is not the season for eggplants, I have been craving them. Obsession is my name when it comes to finding the best recipe possible for any given dish. The last few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with recipes for Eggplant Parmagiana. Coming from an ethnic background, I have always made my parmagiana from traditional methods of salting, draining and dipping the eggplant before frying and baking. Recently, I attended one of our “Little Supper Club” gatherings and was delighted with Christine’s pasta eggplant. In her recipe, spaghetti was actually added as an ingredient and it was very tasty. I decided that there must be many other recipes out there so I searched the web and experimented with several. Finally, I came up with the one that rivals my recipe and is much simpler and better for you. I’ll be posting the recipe soon.
