SPELLBOUND

SPELLBOUND

Spellbound painting-without light

Here is another painting I will be exhibiting at MoJo’s Café on August 4-Sept 4th. I used the Renaissance Oil method for this one and added my own collage work. I also added encaustic wax to the background along with a cold processed wax.

Original painting

When I took the painting outside to photograph, the light just poured across her face in a fashion that had me wishing I would have painted it that way. I may go back and add that light. What do you think? Do you like it with or without the light? I appreciate your input. It’s not too late for me to go back and paint in the light and this is not a bad idea for future paintings because this way, I will have the light already there in the picture and can decide if I like it or not. It might be a bit difficult to duplicate.

Full painting with light from sun streaking across

She is 12x24x 1 ½ “ and is on a heavy birch canvas. I have priced her at $245 and she will be available after the show. If you would like me to hold her for you, just e-mail me and we can go from there. I take all credit cards and Paypal.

  2. With or without the light, I love her. She is indeed so mysterious, enchanting and beautiful. The butterflies also add up to her natural and mysterious beauty. I love this Cheryl!

  5. Cher..she is lovely!! I love how the light plays on the piece. It does add a more magical quality to her but either way...as always...your art is breathtaking.

I love the butterflies....so love butterflies.

  7. Oh, she is beautiful, Cheryl! I agree, she is beautiful with and without the light. However, the light does lend a mystical feel to her. Like the butterflies are "blooming" from light the added natural beams just seem to "paint" a more ethereal feel. You are the master of the painting, the soul of its life ... the choice is ultimately yours! :)))

  8. What beauty. What magic. I like the way the light bounces off her. I'm impressed that you will be able to paint her with that light showing. I also like her the way she is, but the other way is sheer magic. Really!

  11. Lovely! Simply lovely. Spellbounding! She is wonderful both ways. But the light adds so much to her. The side view is fabulous. I am looking forwarded to seeing her in person. Trish

  12. She's enchanting and the light surrounded her with an extra aura of loveliness! Yes, Yes!!! Add the light!!! I truly believe the 'drifting light' across the finished piece was a gift from the Mother Goddess! Blessed inspiration, Cheryl!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I think it is really useful taking pictures of my work.
I love it because something always appears and when I go to sleep on it, it will help me to see even more.
